Private In-Home Sessions

Private In-Home or Office Sessions
Performed by Lorraine May, M.A.
Executive Director of Misha May Foundation Dog Training and Rescue
Voted Best Dog Training in Denver 3 years in a row!

Lorraine May has been training for over 15 years. The rescue has always accepted the hardest dogs that no one else wanted. Lorraine has fostered and worked with just about every breed and every issue successfully over the years.

In-Your -Home Sessions: Jeffco and Denver – day, evening, weekend
Office Sessions: Lakewood - day, evening, weekend

Philosophy: Misha May employs Learning Theory which is an educational approach. We communicate with the dog clearly establishing consistent rules. We set the dog up for success so that instead of punishing him for doing something wrong, we spend our time teaching and practicing what is right. Just like an athlete practices his skills, we coach the dog until he can perform correctly on his own. Why not be kind and compassionate to your friend rather than harsh and punishing?

Number of Sessions: Typically one session is adequate to help the owner change his or her behavior and learn how to proceed with changing the dog’s behavior. Follow-up training typically happens in one of our specialty classes (Understanding Dogs, Scared and Scary) which cost $150 for 4 weeks.

Prior to the session: complete a registration so that the trainer arrives prepared and ready to work
During the session: assessment of dog and situation, training of dog, coaching of humans, development of goal oriented treatment plan, follow-up suggestions such as classes
Following the session: delivery of educational handouts, clarification of any questions, suggested continuation in our specialty classes, additional appropriate referrals

The session will address:
*Behavior: to teach the dog what he or she needs to know to replace an unwanted behavior with an acceptable behavior that gets him what he wants or needs (play, self-confidence, safety, attention, great life)
*Emotions: to help the dog develop a more positive association with his world which leads to relaxation, manners and a great life

Pricing:
Initial consult / training session / treatment plan / handouts – 1.5 hours @ $350
Follow-up treatment session – 1 hour @ $250
Package of 3 one hour follow-up treatment sessions - $600
Follow- up classes if appropriate for your dog(s) - $150 for all 4 weeks
Understanding Dogs - for almost any issue
Scared & Scary - for dogs who fear, react to, or dislike other dogs, but are okay with humans

Foster dogs from any rescue or shelter may attend our dog training classes for free. However, we do not have the resources to offer private sessions for free.

May 20 FUN! YOUR Dog Thinks - Problem Solves – Works Out – Bonds – Succeeds! Donation-based Canine Confidence Building Course – Lakewood

May 6 4 week Understanding YOUR Dog: individual behavior session - Lakewood

May 6, June 3, 10, 17 from 11:30am-12:30pm

Location: private home in Lakewood near Wadsworth and Alameda (exact address will be sent after you register, just prior to class) Fee is $150 per dog with family members.

Your dog attends class one scheduled week where he receives the equivalent of an in-home private session. You attend all 4 weeks where you learn about dog behavior to help with your situation, while observing the individual sessions of others.

Behaviors which can be addressed are anxiety, fear, aggression, housetraining, puppy, reactivity, leash walking, recall, door manners, P.T.S.D., trauma, lack of socialization, meeting and greeting, etc. No problem is too big or too small. We will tailor each week to fit the dog’s needs.

We problem solve utilizing a positive, force-free, communicative approach which is respectful of dogs and their humans. We may include obedience, essential oils, flower essences, Tellington Touch, as well as other calming techniques and anxiety reducing approaches.

Often dogs develop undesirable behaviors to compensate for a past event which still troubles them. Sometimes they are afraid or just don’t know what is expected. We’ll help each dog change not only his behavior but his attitude and feelings about the world so that he feels safer and more relaxed.

Registration Required at mishamayfoundation@gmail.com. Reserve your spot by paying the $150 per dog fee using Paypal or credit card with the donation button at www.mishamayfoundation.org or mail a check to Misha May, PO Box 151166, Lakewood, CO 80215-1166.

Foster dogs, still homeless and not adopted, from any rescue or shelter, may attend for FREE. Please do not request a FREE spot for a dog who is adopted or spoken for (by the foster parent or other).
